Staff – Get to Know Traci

What’s your favorite genre of book and/or movie?

Up until January 2025, I loved anything dystopian, but right now I love reading mysteries and historical fiction. I also love anything that involves time travel. Two of my favorite books are Kindred by Octavia E. Butler (1979) and Life After Life, by Kate Atkinson (2013). For movies, I love anything quirky — I have been a longtime fan of Wes Anderson — we do have a “Wes Anderson Corner” at the library, after all! My favorite movie of all time is still Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, directed by Michel Gondry.

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?

Motorcycle racing! I’d love to do track training and track days! I’d also love to learn how to fly planes.

What are you interested in that some people may not have heard of?

Usability design: User-based design with different users and user abilities in mind.

What form of transportation do you prefer? (air, boat, train, bus, car, etc.)

Riding my motorcycle in the spring and summer. I do love a good boat ride, too!

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?

I loved Vieques. There were wild horses running on the beach like an actual 80’s music video!

What fictional place would you most like to go?

The time machine described in H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine (1895). Then I could go anywhere (anytime).

What book impacted you the most?

The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (1892) and A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf (1929). I read those in my early 20’s as an introduction to early feminist ideology.
